As a community, Tunbridge Wells has a great number of charities, CICs and community groups that support local residents and charitable causes. Many corporates make provision for free volunteer days for their employees as well as supporting events and charities in the area. In addition many individuals help local charities through volunteering their time, skills and fundraising.

As well as helping others, volunteering has been shown to improve volunteers’ wellbeing and mental health too.

It’s human nature to feel good after helping someone out. Volunteering can also help you gain valuable new skills and experiences, and boost their confidence and CV for work.

Approximately 20%of people in the UK volunteered through a group, club or organisation in 2021/22 with almost one in five (16%) people report volunteering at least once a month.

In addition, more than half of the UK population gets involved in informal volunteering – but this is less visible. Informal volunteering can involve things like going shopping, providing childcare or doing housework for free for someone who is not a relative or a friend.

TW Works actively encourages residents to volunteer and support local charities and organisations. If you are interested in volunteering and want some advice about charities that may need your skills then please get in touch with Imago Volunteer Centre
