FIND A DESK TO WORK IN TW
Do you currently work from home?
Working from home can have tremendous benefits, however have you considered working in a dedicated space of your own within the town centre?
Workspace providers are increasingly creating offices and memberships to accommodate flexible working; from a couple of hours desk rental an ad-hoc basis, renting a dedicated desk a week, sharing the rent on a private office with other companies or having your own private office. There are a number of different options available for freelancers and businesses of all sizes.
Flexi Hot-desking
Taking a desk at one of the great hot-desking venues in town can help provide you with a space of your own to work with a wide range of flexibility which enables you to separate work from your home life, helping provide a clearer separation between work and family.
Coworking spaces
One option for freelancers, smaller or mid-sized teams is coworking. Within a coworking space, you can rent a desk or a fully-furnished private office and gain access to various office amenities you may not be able to afford by yourself.
You’ll also have the option to up or downsize your office at relatively short notice. Simply discuss your needs with your office space provider, and they can alter your space depending on what you need.
Some coworking space providers even offer part-time “shoffices”, where two occupiers share the office with another business for 2-3 days each.
Managed offices
For bigger businesses, managed offices can be a great solution to help embrace agile working. There are a number of managed office providers who offer the service and great amenities of coworking, all rolled into one monthly bill, with the ability to customise your own private workspace.
Additional Benefits from office working
With most of these options, you can also benefit from the wide range of facilities available to a professional office set up including reception space, printing facilities, free tea/coffee facilities, fast Wi-Fi connection as well as great opportunities to network and make connections with other members of the business community.
Can it work out cheaper than commuting?
Commuting to work can cost thousands of £s a year (an annual commuter fare to London from Tunbridge Wells in 2024 was over £5,800), in addition to contributing to stress, poor mental health and taking precious hours away that could be spent as family time or socialising.
| Estimated Journey Time* | Total time spent in transport per week** | Total Time spent in transport per year*** | |
| City of London | 1 hr 20min | 13 Hours + | 24 Days + |
| Canary Wharf / Westiminister / SOHO | 1 hr 25min | 14 Hours + | 28 Days + |
*Assuming a 15minute journey to TW Station / **Assuming a 5 day a week role / ***Assuming a 4 weeks of holiday
A decision to work 2 or 3 days from an office in your home town could save you between 10 and 17 days a year in travelling time, and financially you can save by just paying to commute when you need with the Flexi Season Ticket Bundles. Which means more quality time for you that could be spent with family, friends or quiet personal relaxation!
